It occurred to me as I was going through the photos of today’s cake that I really don’t do much in yellow for cakes. I can’t remember the last time (ever?) that I’ve done an all yellow cake like this. I’m not sure why since I love this color and its so happy to look at.
Today’s cake was inspired by a cake similar in style that I ran across in a trade magazine. This cake [for September b-days at my husband’s work] is made up of 8″ and 10″ round cakes, iced in buttercream, and accented with fondant flowers. Real simple. It went together so fast and I love that when that happens.
So enjoy this lingering glimpse of sunny, yellow summer. Fall is moving in on us here – we have a frost warning for tonight! (boooooo!) 🙂
