50th Anniversary

Posted by on Oct 2, 2012 in My Cakes, Wedding & Bridal

I was recently asked to make a cake to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary!  What an amazing celebration! 🙂  The “bride” wanted a replica of her wedding day cake (which she had also done at her 40th party).  This time, though, she wanted the roses to be a golden yellow, which is the  “color” of the 50th anniversary.  This cake is 8″-10″-14″.

1st Communion…in purple!

Posted by on May 18, 2011 in Gumpaste Figures & Flowers, My Cakes, Religious

This was the first of two 1st Communion cakes I made last week.  This one is a replica of one I made last year – only in purple this time.  Cakes are 6″ and 8″ and everything is edible!

Wedding!

Posted by on Jun 28, 2010 in Gumpaste Figures & Flowers, My Cakes, Wedding & Bridal

I had the honor of making my mom’s wedding cake in early June.  She requested the floating tiers and said she was using pink but otherwise let me do as I wished.  So I ended up getting myself some new cutters to learn peonies and added in the hydrangeas and roses I already knew.  The rest of the cake is buttercream.  The hydrangea blossoms on the side are gumpaste like the top flowers.  These tiers were 8″, 10″ and 12″.

This cake was for the Sept birthdays at my husband’s work.  The brown side parts are made of a chocolate candy clay.  All the rest is buttercream icing.

A bit of fall…early :)

This cake was a fall themed one – not quite fall yet but I still love it.  The colors are so pretty.  All of the flowers are gumpaste, cake is buttercream iced.

Pink swags

Posted by on Jun 26, 2008 in Birthday, My Cakes

I had this cake dummy (styrofoam) covered in fondant from the last class I taught.  Decided to try something new…not sure how I like it but it is what it is 😀  The swags are dusted with pearl dust but doesn’t show up a ton in the pic.

Cassie's Horse Cake

Posted by on Aug 5, 2007 in Birthday, Gumpaste Figures & Flowers, Kid Themed, My Cakes

Here is the horse cake from Cassie’s birthday party today! I painted the bow on the horse with some pink pearl dust and I love the change (see the old pic of the horse I posted last month below). The roses on the cake are royal icing and the rest of the cake is all buttercream. I inserted a closeup of the horse to see the color better. I also made a dozen cup cakes for “extra”. These are all buttercream (including the roses). Not my best work on those roses but it was hot and humid which doesn’t mix well with icing! 😀
