Valentine’s Cupcakes

Posted by on Feb 16, 2012 in Cupcakes, Holiday, My Cakes

Happy (little bit late) Valentine’s Day!  These were some cupcakes that I made up for my 2nd grader to take to class for her Valentine’s party.  The hearts are fondant that I imprinted with a rubber stamp.

Conversation Hearts

Posted by on Feb 17, 2011 in Birthday, Holiday, My Cakes

Its February!  And of course this means that Valentine’s and hearts are on the mind.  Dave’s work cake often falls right around Valentine’s day so I tend to make something “love” themed.  Last year was the ganache truffle heart cake (which got rave reviews!).  This year I decided to do some “candy” conversation hearts.

Each of these heart cakes is a 9″ heart – and about 5″ tall!  They got pretty big.  The pink heart is chocolate cake with an oreo filling (yum!) and the purple cake is marble with a strawberry jam filling.  And surrounding all of them are lots of candy melt hearts.  I made them in a new Make’n Mold heart mold I picked up at Hobby Lobby.

♥ Happy Valentine’s Day! ♥

Little Bear Cake Pops

Posted by on Feb 16, 2011 in Holiday, My Cakes

Anyone with kids knows that there are many class parties.  I don’t mind signing up to bring things – and of course you know what I pick:  Sweet Treat! 😉

We were signed up for a sweet treat for Emily’s valentine’s party this week.  I was poking around the net a few weeks ago and read Bakerella’s post with her Valentine’s Day Bears. So…cute… !!!  I showed them to Emily when she got home and she was all over that idea.

I gathered the necessary items and last weekend she helped me create these adorable bears.  I won’t lie – they took time – but we had so much fun doing them together and she learned all kinds of techniques and skills.  Plus the bragging rights that she helped create them. 🙂  She helped with each step along the way.  She’s almost 9 so I didn’t think she’d necessarily hang in there for the whole process but she did.

And we were both pleased with the results!  Thank you Bakerella for your inspiration.  Check her out – you’ll be inspired as well!

Chocolate Love

Posted by on Feb 18, 2010 in Birthday, Holiday, My Cakes

This is February’s  cake for my husband’s work meeting.   Putting together V-day and some chocolate – what a pairing!  The cake itself is covered in a chocolate ganache and then a heart is made on top with some chocolate truffles.  Yum!

Valentine Cookies

Posted by on Feb 11, 2010 in Cookies, Holiday, My Cakes

Yesterday I worked on these cookies for my 2 daughters to take to class for their valentine’s day parties.  My oldest daughter (almost 8 yrs old) has grown very particular about her cake and cookie designs 🙂  I find it both cute and humorous.  She saw the bridal shower cookies I made last week and loved the designs.  This past weekend I asked her what design/color she wanted for their v-day cookies.   Her reply “I want the back to be light pink and I want a red heart in the middle and make it with the curl on the one side like that cookie.  But I don’t want the crooked heart mom, I want a regular one [see previous post – I used a whimsical heart].  And do some of those little hearts up at the top too.  That’s not too hard is it?” 🙂  She makes me smile – her list of requests yet she wants to be sure its not going to take me a million years.

Well much to my delight it didn’t – I baked and completely iced these during the day on Wed while she was at school….all 55 of them!  They went quite fast really.  Both she and her sister loved them which made my day.  Hopefully their friends love them too tomorrow – but then again, what’s not to love about cookies!

Bridal Shower Cookies

Posted by on Feb 6, 2010 in Cookies, My Cakes, Wedding & Bridal

Long time no post!  We are in the middle of a kitchen remodel here so I haven’t been doing many cakes lately.  Mostly because so much of my stuff is packed or hard to find.  I do have great work area though thanks to a temporary kitchen setup.  Here are some cookies I did that were for a bridal shower. 70 cookies total… This was my first time playing with the tiered cake cookie cutter despite having it since last summer.  So much fun!  I can’t wait to do more designs with it.

Valentine's Cupcakes

Posted by on Feb 12, 2009 in Cupcakes, Holiday, My Cakes

Valentine’s day is just around the corner ~ and I was on duty to make sweet treats for both the girls’ classes.  I decided to keep it easy on myself and make them all the same and not too detailed.  I did, after all, end up decorating 4 dozen cupcakes! 🙂  It didn’t take that long at all either.  Chocolate cupcakes by the request of my chocolate loving girls…the icing is piped out half pink/half white.  Dark pink cake sparkles on top and then I piped out chocolate pink and red hearts to put in top.  Click an image to enlarge…
