Long time no cake. 😉  Yeah I haven’t been doing as many lately. But a friend called and wanted something The Hive themed for her daughter’s 2nd birthday – how can I say no? 🙂 She also requested 50 little sugar bees to use on pancake stacks. I had extra so I decided to implement them in the cake as well. The bees on top are fondant, those little bees are royal icing and the rest of the cake is buttercream. This one is an 8″ & 10″.

Last month my niece turned 4! She loves Tinkerbell, so I got to make her a fairy-perfect cake. This cake is an 8″ & 10″. The Tinkerbell on top is a toy.

Its hard not to like the Despicable Me movies – and especially those hilarious (and sometimes inappropriate) minions! 🙂 It was sure fun to make up these little faces for my friend’s daughters. The faces are made of a fondant/gumpaste blend.

These cupcakes were made for a little boy who loves Skylander (a video game for those of you who aren’t familiar 😉 ). The elements were made of a fondant/gumpaste blend.

My friend’s daughter was celebrating her 10th birthday with a gummy bear themed and asked if I could create something for that. We contemplated a few ideas (including one that involved covering the entire cake with gummy bears, which would use almost 4.5 POUNDS of gummy bears!), but in the end we decided to go a bit less, since we figured everyone would pick most of the bears off and trash them anyway. She found a giant gummy bear on a stick from World Market that we used on top. It really finished it off! This cake is a 6″/8″.

A friend approached me to make her son’s 2nd birthday cake – Nemo themed! So fun! I loved making these cute fondant characters to go on top. I think the “mine” seagull was my favorite character to do. The main cake is a 6″/10″ and the small cake (for the b-day boy) is a 6″ one as well.

My niece turned 3 this weekend and the theme was pumpkin princess! She likes all things sparkly and pink. 🙂 This cake is a 10″ round with a pumpkin cake on top. The pumpkin was carved out of the wilton ball pan and covered in fondant. The crown is gumpaste with a hard candy jewel on it.

Well its time again for the monthly birthday cake for my husband’s work. Since May is his [and mine too] birthday month, we brainstormed for a fun idea he’d like. We came up with Shaun the Sheep ~ based on a tv show our whole family loves. I have to say my favorite side is the stacked up sheep. 🙂 What was most fun was drawing their pupils. Its amazing how the placement of these black dots can completely change the expression of a figure. 🙂
Tower of sheep! I love the middle bottom one with his crossed eyes. 🙂

Timmy flying away with balloons…

And of course, Shaun! I would have loved to make a stand up figure of him, but
we thought of the idea at the last minute and its been a busy week!
